Whether you’ve planned a trip to Cayman, Jamaica, St. Marten’s, or another spot in the Caribbean, there are things to think about before you go. This video gives you a short overview of the things you should think about before you get on the plane or boat.

One thing that stuck out is the fact that Hepatitis A is the top infectious disease you can catch on vacation. What? Luckily, they make a vaccine for that. Other oogy diseases? Typhoid fever (yikes) and Traveler’s Diarrhea (ew).

Where are you most likely to catch these ailments? In the “sun destinations.” That’s so unfair! It’s beautiful, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and there you are, possibly catching malaria.

Make sure you get your vaccinations, and also a script for antibiotics to take with you. That’s very important, as many “sun destinations” don’t have them in ready supply. The wedding rings have been exchanged, the thank-you notes have been written – the wedding is finally over. Now is the fun part – the honeymoon. This video gives some very good tips on planning and making the most of your first trip as a married couple.

One great piece of advice is to avoid places that you know nothing about. Don’t go someplace where the weather doesn’t suit you, or if you have no idea what to expect. Pick someplace you’ve always wanted to go.

Another good tip – let the hotel know that you’re on your honeymoon. Lots of places will go the extra mile to make your honeymoon special. Don’t get your hopes up too high, though, because it often depends on who is in charge and who you tell. Let that extra perk be an added bonus, rather than something you expect.

Another piece of advice is to ask around. People who have been to a specific destination can often give good insider tips that travel websites and hotel brochures don’t cover.

All in all, it’s a special time and it should be a memorable and stress-free trip. Follow these tips to make sure it lives up to your expectations.

How to Find the Quirk in Kansas

The Sunflower State is iconic for many reasons. As the setting for the beginning and end of The Wizard Of Oz, many of us have uttered over the years, “I don’t think we’re in Kansas anymore” when we encounter something odd or unfamiliar. Little did we know that Kansas holds plenty of odd and quirky attractions.

This video, courtesy of Ready Made Adventures, gives you a brief overview of the quirk that Kansas has to offer. You can travel to Hutchinson, Kansas for a tour of the Kansas Underground Salt Museum, which features a “Murder in the Mine Interactive Mystery Dinner Theater” and tours of the structure, that is 650 below the surface of the Kansas prairie.

If you’ve got the opposite of a fear of heights, and would rather stay above ground, you could check out the Largest Ball of Sisal Twine in Cawker City, Texas. Not to be confused with “The Largest Ball of Twine” in Branson, Missouri, or the “Largest Ball of Sisal Twine Built By One Person” which resides in Darwin, Minnesota. Cawker City’s ball of twine was created to trump Darwin, Minnesota’s ball of twine. It is much bigger, and weighs about 18,000 pounds.

Theme parks mean concession stand gastrointestinal wonders like funnel cakes, deep-friend bananas, and cotton candy. They mean death-defying, pulse-pounding, hold-on-to-your lunch roller coasters and rides. They mean, in a word, fun.
